Loiben

Loiben

The appellation Loiben implicates the vineyards of the villages Ober- and Unterloiben at the eastern entry to the Wachau. Gently sloped facing the river Danube the soil is dominated by gravel mixed with some sandy sediments. At night, cool air from a side valley, the so called Menthalgraben is streaming down into the Loibner basin. This kind of terroir is resulting in very pure and vigorous wines showing high but ripe acidity.
