RIED

Pfaffenberg

The single vineyard Ried Pfaffenberg is bordering the Wachau at its east and is part of the historic town Krems/ Stein belonging to the wine growing region Kremstal. These vineyards comprise slightly slopes on a steep rugged rock and south to south-west exposed plateau with some terraces facing the Loibner basin. The crystalline bedrock consists of Gföhler gneiss and mica schist. Mostly cool winds are breezing from the west and it is hence exposed to temperature extremes. The Pfaffenberg is supposed to be one of the best places for Riesling in entire Austria – the wines are of great purity and of long term aging potential. We do a very tiny plot of Grüner Veltliner too there.
